The UK Internet Service Providers Association (ISPA) has today unveiled the full winners list from last night’s 15th annual 2013 Internet Industry Awards, which saw the award for ‘Best Superfast Broadband‘ go to London ISPHyperoptic and the gong for ‘Best Consumer Fixed Broadband‘ being won by Sky Broadband…. Elsewhere Recep Erdogan (Turkish Prime Minister) bagged the infamous gong for Internet Villainafter he called online social media a “menace to society” and built an extensive record of censorship, online surveillance and website blocking. A variety of ISPs also won awards under various different categories last night and we’ve listed all of the winners below. Nicholas Lansman, ISPAs Secretary General, said: “The Hero & Villain Awards have been part of the ISPAs since the first awards in 1999, and Julian Huppert is a worthy Hero, being sometimes a lone voice advocating the importance of the internet in parliament. Recep Erdogan also deserves his award for the way he has prevented his citizens expressing themselves online.” Winners of the ISPAs 2013 UK Internet Industry Awards click here to see all winners.  Related posts: Alternative Information Technologies Association applied to the Council of State for the cancellation of central Internet filtering system!
