According to the Syrian opposition, the Assad regime killed more than 1,300 people on Tuesday in a toxic gas attack on its own population. The government vehemently denies the accusations that it used poisonous gas. Some commentators believe the ‘red line’ referred to by US President Barack Obama has now been overstepped once and for all. Others point out that the background to the attack has not been clarified yet.
The function of violence in Egypt
